REPOSITORY UPDATE
The summer months have not distracted our partners and development team from contributing to the repository. Alexandria is currently home to over 2,600 learning objects. The range of interest and members that have logged onto the repository is an international buffet. Researchers and educators from the United States, Hong Kong and Australia have looked at the work that the BELLE project has created.

MOLSON MEDICAL INFORMATICS
Our partners with the McGill Molson Medical Informatics project have been rapidly growing their collection of multimedia resources in medical teaching. Nancy Posel, Manager of the Molson project says, "When we first looked at digital learning objects, we thought we needed one giant repository. Through our work in BELLE and with other medical colleges it is clear that having the technology to host several repositories that talk to each other is critical. By building repositories that have standardized vocabulary and metatagging tools, various universities or disciplinary units can exchange learning objects … housed in different repositories." At present the Molson project has over 2500 learning objects and is working with other medical projects at UCLA and the University of Ohio. "Starting with the fall semester first-year medical school students will be receiving a CD-ROM comprised of all the lectures and multi-media objects to get them through their first unit of study. We are really excited that we are using media to facilitate the learning process," adds Nancy.

BELLE FINAL MEETING
The BELLE project wrap-up meeting is scheduled for October 20th and 21st at the Banff Centre. It will be a wonderful opportunity to discuss the lessons learned in the project and have the chance to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Rocky Mountains.
