EDUSOURCE GRANT TO BE APPROVED

Netera Alliance is currently awaiting for CANARIE, (Canada's advanced Internet development organization) to formally approve the eduSource cost-shared grant. Preliminary word has been positive but no dollar figures have been announced. eduSource Canada will be a national consortium of learning institutions, universities and private sector partners devoted to the advancement of E-learning.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The first meeting of the BELLE faculty development committee kicked off on Wednesday July 10th. Participants via telephone conference discussed the process of engaging institutions in professional and faculty development. The committee will move forward by raising awareness about learning objects repositories within disciplinary groups and by looking at existing faculty development processes at each BELLE partner institutions. NEW MEDIA AWARD
The CAREO (Campus Alberta Repository of Educational Objects) development team was honored this month with an award from the New Media Centers, an organization that includes such member institutions as Stanford, Yale, Princeton and MIT. The award was in recognition of the development of web based educational tools. In fact, Apple Computer Inc. is so impressed with the repository work that they plan to highlight the CAREO project in an upcoming news article.

BELLE PARTNER CONTRACT DELIVERABLES
As we are now in the middle of the summer months and with the wrap-up of the BELLE project looming, the project management team would like to assist any of the BELLE partners to meet their project deliverables.
