BELLE ANNUAL PLANNING MEETING A SUCCESS
On April 12, the BELLE partners participated in an all-day planning
meeting at the University of British Columbia. We would like to thank
Jim Tom and Mark Zuberbuhler for hosting the event and all our partners
who attended and contributed. We have an exciting six months ahead of us
and with your input we will be working hard to meet our extension goals.
Details on project developments will follow through the summer months.
ANNUAL REPORT
It is annual report time once again, and we do invite our partners to
contribute and participate. Based on the presentations made at the
Annual Planning Meeting, we asked partners to provide a few paragraphs
about their accomplishments and activities in the BELLE project, and new
activities proposed for the expansion. To include your submission in the
Annual Report, please submit to Deborah Kaloudis via email

NEW AND FAMILIAR FACES IN THE NETERA OFFICES
Michael Magee has recently joined the BELLE project as an Educational
Technology Specialist and Information Architect. He previously designed
and managed the software development on the CAREO (Campus Alberta
Repository of Educational Objects) repository project. Mike will
continue the same role within Netera as the project continues to develop
on a national scale. Mike's work will deal with the adoption and
implementation of the new technological paradigm in both the post
secondary and the K-12 areas.
Norm Friesen has joined the Netera team as Information Architect on the
BELLE project. Norm has been working in the area of instructional web
development at the University of Alberta since 1997 and most recently on
the CAREO project. Norm's work has focused on the development of
descriptive data or metadata which has led him to collaborate in the
development of the CanCore Profile - a standard way of describing
educational resources that will be used in a number of educational
repository projects across the country.
We are very pleased to welcome both Mike and Norm to the BELLE project.
